Sarong Party

In 2019, we commemorate the 200th anniversary of Raffles’ landing in Singapore. But why stop at “commemoration”? The MadHatter Project invites you to celebrate this landmark with us as we hold a listening party – imaginatively titled “Sarong Party”. Through music complemented with other multi-disciplinary elements, join us as we explore what the British left behind, and how Singapore has contended with, or co-opted these legacies since its independence.

Commissioned by The Future of Our Pasts Festival

The Future of Our Pasts Festival (TFOOPFest) is a month-long festival showcasing 11 creative projects by students and recent graduates from different tertiary institutions in Singapore and abroad, that reimagine lesser-known stories of our communities and places through arts and media. #TFOOPFest invites you to view our history in a new light, discover stories of our past and present, and engage with what they mean for Singapore — now and in the future.
